Merry Christmas - God Jul - Feliz Navidad

This is the little tree we found in the forest on Sunday, I think it is so cute.
We have enjoyed it for a few days, but now it will shine in its glory by itself,
we are almost ready for take off.
Norway here we come!

Wish you all a pleasant time, I'll be back in 2013!

From Masai Mara to my table

Several years ago, when I was in South-Africa, I met a man from Kenya. He gave me this red fabric and a "crown" from Masai Mara. I kept it for years in a box with other souvenirs from around the globe. I've decided to use it, therefor it is now on my table as a Christmas tablecloth.

Tree hunters....

This weekend has been busy!
On Friday came our daughter home from UNI, so happy to have her home again. On Sunday we went to the forest (great with some fresh air and exercise  after heavy meals and party) to find a tree we could take home. And yes, we found a small one, pictures will come as soon as I find the transfer cable from camera to computer.......

London East End

I miss London but I miss my daughter more.
She will come to Luxembourg in a few days so this post is about my next, future trip to London. (Important to start planning early!)
Many people frown their nose when they hear East End. But after being in London 3 times the past weeks and staying at the East End (where my daughter's UNI is) I must say that I like the area. Not streamline and luxurious as on the opposite side of London, but quirky and funny with a lot of strange boutiques, vintage stores and cafes.
My plan for my next trip is:

 I will stay at
Hotel 40 winks

eat lunch at

and have drinks at

This post is more a reminder to myself,
but feel free to go on a journey....

Saffron buns for charity!

I am really in the charity mode for the moment!
This time I'm helping the Swedes and Table Ronde Luxembourg.
So, if you are in Luxembourg tomorrow Saturday the 8, and not afraid of the snowy weather, please come to Place de Théâtre and try the typical saffron buns and Swedish "glögg"!

Holly!

I found a holly tree in the forest on one of my weakly walks.
Was a bit surprised to find this kind of tree growing wild,
normally you see them in gardens.
I brought with me plenty of branches (used rubber glows!) and made this decoration that hangs now on my door.

I found this old wreath in the garage, pealed of the
brown leaves and replaced it with holly.....

Like it much better now!

Have a nice Friday!

Red bedroom

I don't red.....
except in December.
So the only time in the year where I can use my red bed linen is now.
The rest of the year it's pure white that matters....

Salmon for charity!

Not often I'm up before 7 on a Saturday morning but that happened today.
I (and a few other ladies) have been making some hundreds
of salmon sandwiches for the International Bazar
which finds place at Luxexpo, Kirchberg, this weekend.
So if you are in Luxembourg these days, pop by
and have a taste of Norway at the Scandinavian stand!

Schéiss

I feel that this week has been more or less about food.
Dinners, lunches and breakfast with friends, but hey, who wouldn't like that?
Anyway, Thursday evening we were 10 girls gathered at the restaurant Schéiss in Belair. My first time there but not my last.

My menu for the evening:

carpaccio Saint Jacques

and tendre morceaux de veau

Girls lunch

I am so blessed to have such nice friends and to have
the opportunity to have them over for lunch on an ordinary weekday.
This time I set the table in neutral colours and yet again I used newer things combined with old treasures found at markets around here and there.
Doesn't take much effort to set a table like this and the
menu was also very easy.

pumpkin soup
salad with roasted vegetables, pears and goatcheese
"fruta confitada", macarons and cake

Today has been all about the boy!
Happy birthday to him and happy birthday to my
lovely mother who
also have a big day today!

A bit of Christmas this weekend

Hi everyone, hope you all had a great weekend!
I started on Friday with decoration and then organizing a Norwegian Christmas dinner for 50 people.
 A great success!
(a big thank you to all involved)
Saturday was the great shopping escape,
and Sunday Fleur Wüst had their annual Christmas opening,
and of course they served cookies and cremant!

Now it's Monday and I am ready for a new week and
new challenges, the next days will be busy!

Pretty, rough denim

Somehow I prefer to have dinner guests on a weekday instead at the weekend.
Week day dinner is less formal then a Saturday night dinner, the guests doesn't tend to stay to early morning and I have the opportunity to set the table a bit more glamourous than it usually is.
On our Tuesday dinner I found my very old plates that I haven't used for a decade and paired it with the rough denim fabric that I bought very cheap at Ikea. Also used the old crystal glasses from great grandmother, love the contrast of sweet and not so sweet.

Thanks to our guests for a very nice evening.

Soooo Norwegian.....

Bought this ear warmer yesterday at the Norwegian bazar.
Reminds me of my childhood when every child had a jumper in this pattern, so 70ies and so Norwegian.
For only 6 euro and hand-knitted in wool I think it is a bargain!

Norwegian X-mas bazar

If you live in Luxembourg you must come to the Norwegian Christmas bazar!
I'll be serving waffles and "gløgg" (mulled wine)

Sunday 18th

Christening

My adorable niece (here with her cousin and another adorable niece of mine) was baptized last Sunday. So my daughter and I took a plane from London to be with the family. Lovely to be with the family again and least but not less we had the chance to wear our National costume "bunad".

Colourful Camden

Had a great time with my daughter in London a few days ago.
We went to Camden and its market where we did some vintage shopping.

Other things we did:
see a Christmas decorated Covent Garden
drank mulled wine
had a Italian inspired lunch
strolling Regent and Oxford street
5 o'clock tea
shopping
see Stomp
fancy dinner

LOVE LONDON MORE AND MORE!

See you next week!
